Language Trends is an annual survey of primary and secondary schools in England, conducted by the British Council and designed to gather information about the current situation for language teaching and learning. Its aims are to assess the impact of policy measures in relation to languages and to analyse strengths and weaknesses based both on quantitative evidence and on the views of teachers. The most recent survey was published on 26 June 2018.  The latest findings uncover trends in the demographics of MFL students and the impact of Brexit. The most important finding is a widening gap in opportunities to study languages between different socio-demographic groups. For further information and to download the report, click here.
