I have been working at Rutherford House Primary School for the past 3 years and last September I was introduced to the ‘Professional Language Networks’ Hub project by my mentor, Mrs Verena Mulloy.

I had the opportunity to attend several workshops and courses offered and organised by Network for Languages London, which had a great impact on my teaching and personal development.  I found these workshops immensely rewarding on a personal and professional level.

These workshops covered both foundational and practical aspects of teaching a foreign language.   It  was very useful to review the fundamentals of the importance of exposing students to foreign languages as early as possible and on the practical pointers on how to measure and improve the students’ progress.  These were new skills and tools I immediately applied on my return to the classroom.

In addition to the pupils benefitting form my attendance at these workshops, I’ve discovered a new support network to help me improve myself professionally as a foreign language teacher.   It was also a great way to meet with other teachers from different schools and backgrounds with whom I connected perfectly and shared experiences and strategies on how to teach a foreign language in primary schools. It has been such a wonderful and insightful experience to be part of  this project.  I very much look forward to attending other workshops as they become available.
