The University of Westminster is offering to bring history/drama workshops into secondary schools in the East London area. The fully funded workshops are a collaboration between the Department of English, Linguistics and Cultural Studies at the University of Westminster and the Yellow Earth Company (http://yellowearth.org/about-yellow-earth/we-inspire/bespoke-projects/), around a new play, ‘Forgotten,’ by Daniel York Loh, which will open at the Arcola Theatre in Hackney (22 October – 17 November 2018).
‘Forgotten’ is inspired by the little known story of the 140,000 strong Chinese Labour Corps who left everything to work behind the front lines during WW1. The history/drama workshops address the theme of migration and are connected to the GCSE history syllabus and supported by the Runnymede Trust Our Migration Story online resources (www.ourmigrationstory.org.uk), which look at Chinese immigration and World War One.
