A new report published by the British Council in November 2017 looks at the state of foreign language learning in Britain and identifies the priority languages for the UK, post-Brexit. Languages topping the list are Spanish, Mandarin, French, Arabic and German, the same ones as those identified in the 2013 version of the report. They are some way ahead of the next top five, which are: Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Japanese and Russian. Languages also scoring highly that may well grow in importance in future include Polish, Malay, Turkish, Hindi and other Indian languages. For more information, follow this link.
