The Stepping Stones programme supported vulnerable pupils making the transition from primary to secondary school between January 2016 and July 2017.

The Programme was run by Gladesmore Community School and Gangs Unite. They worked with Urswick School, Heathcote School and Science College, and their feeder primaries, to explore ways of supporting vulnerable pupils. These included:

  • Peer and adult mentoring
  • Summer schools
  • Confidence building
  • Academic support
  • Career support
  • Support for parents

A best practice toolkit is now being produced and will be available to all London schools to support successful transition to secondary school from January 2018. For more information about the Stepping Stones programme click here.

On 29 January 2018, key findings from the programme’s external evaluation, as well the launch of the Stepping Stones toolkit will take place at City Hall from 5pm to 7pm.
